摘要
This paper presents a system design for interactive multimedia service for household use. The design makes it possible to efficiently utilize network resources and easily extend the system configuration. The proposed application design for real-time audio conferences can optimize the number of processes started in a server so that users do not become aggravated when playing in network games. Our designs are based on a methodology where virtual channels in the ATM network are set up for each type of transferred data classified by the communication features of various service applications. The design models are evaluated using data obtained from an actual experimental system. (C) 1998 Scripta Technica.
