摘要
Protruding yarn from the body of a fabric is an important indicator of the mechanism of yarn interaction within the fabric and a predictor of fabric surface properties. The factors affecting protruding yam are shown to fall in two main groups, one governing the structural characteristics of fabric and the other one, the mechanical properties of yarn. An analytical model was developed for plain-weave fabric which describes the fundamental factors affecting fabric surface protrusion. The results of an experimental investigation verified the model for normal loads and yam spacing. The other variables, i.e, E, the elastic modulus, and I, the moment of inertia of the cross-section of the yarn, will be investigated in Part II.
