摘要
Analytical studies on the seismic behavior of steel moment resisting frames (MRFs) with concrete filled steel tubular (CFT) columns were conducted to investigate the seismic performance of these types of frames and to evaluate existing design criteria. The analysis results indicate that their response under the Design Basis Earthquake (DBE) records is within the deformation range where the member and connection strengths in tests have been observed not to deteriorate. The Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCE) records produce more demand, however, based on test results, the connections and CFT columns have sufficient ductility capacity to resist that demand, implying that the frames would survive these earthquakes without collapsing. The results of the analyses suggest that MRFs with CFT columns designed in accordance with current seismic provisions are likely to perform adequately during an earthquake.
