摘要
A graph-oriented data model is introduced in which both the database schema and the database instances are represented as directed labelled graphs. A. retrieval language based on a pattern algebra is defined for querying graph-structured information. Definitions are provided along with examples from a real application. The proposed uniform framework is well suited to a visual interface that, exploiting the semantic expressiveness of the underlying data model, decreases the cognitive load on the user and provides ease of interaction with the system.
