Design and testing of a high-performance range hood

摘要
The development and progress of science and technology have shortened the life cycle of products, causing the development of small-volume, diverse and innovative products to become the mainstream. Accordingly, Reverse Engineering Technology (RE) is in line with the needs and trends of the times. This study takes the range hood as its subject and mainly applied reverse engineering in its impeller and bellows structure. Furthermore, Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) was integrated in the development of a new type of straight-blade impeller system. The analysis results showed that the overall airflow went into both sides of the bellows and was discharged after application of pressure in the impeller and air-rectification in the bellows. The airflow field presented a streamlined and non-turbulent state in the impeller system. In addition, actual machine tests showed that when the impeller speed was 1130 rpm, air volume reached 18.08 CMM, which was nearly 30% better than the output air volume of axial flow models. In particular, the overall development time was shortened by 15%, thus effectively improving the efficiency of development and manufacture.
