摘要
The Clean Development Mechanism - CMD is a market instrument whose goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emission - GHG. It plays an important role in the energy sector due to the large number of emissions it produces worldwide. In Colombia, there are significant opportunities to implement CDM projects, especially due to regulatory issues and coverage of this sector and the environmental problems caused by current economic development model. Energy resources are abundant and there are policies and incentives to promote alternative energy sources. The current development path is unsustainable and changes to Colombian electrical system are needed specially to promote models such as CDM that meet the needs of non-interconnected areas; it is also needed to unify criteria regarding energy policy, science and technology, create long-term strategies, create more incentives to promote fair technology transfer and change energy consumption habits of the society to improve the environmental quality.
