摘要：
Eight different methods based on observational constraints determined in different wavelength bands are discussed in the contest of the search for evidence of dark matter in early-type galaxies. A more detailed summary of the most recent developments is presented. All methods lead to the same conclusion that extended halos of dark matter exist around early-type galaxies. The nature and precise distribution remains to be determined, but the observations and theoretical treatment of them are steadily improving.
