摘要
Considerable part of public expenditure is spent through public procurement market. The size of this market is in the EU countries about 10-20% of GDP. It is therefore logical that if the institute of public procurement does not work effectively enough, there are considerable economic losses. The aim of this paper is to analyze the situation of the public procurement market in the Czech Republic using international comparisons of values of selected indicators (level of competition on the supply side, the transparency of the tender process, the amount of transaction costs, etc.). The results show that the public procurement market in the Czech Republic suffers, as in most post-socialist countries, the lack of competition on the supply side. This is not due to underdeveloped market, but rather due to barriers arising on the part of public administration.
