Evaluation of Managing Efficiency of China's DEA-Based Commercial Banks

This paper introduces data envelopment analysis (DEA) and Malmquist index into analyzing and evaluating the managing efficiency of China's commercial banks from the perspective of managing efficiency and efficiency change. The empirical research has shown that the whole managing efficiency of China's commercial banks does not reach the optimal level according to the efficiency current situation; according the efficiency change, the technical efficiency and scale efficiency of China's banking have both being improved, but the total factor productivity shows downtrend, for which the main reason is the technology retrogression, which is leaded by the global financial crisis caused by American inferior debt crisis in 2007. The basic ways to enhance the managing efficiency of commercial banks are improvement of technical efficiency, appropriate adjustment of the management scale and technology innovation.
