Optimizing the optical matching in a photodiode module for fiber-optic communication lines

The main purpose of this work is to theoretically analyze the propagation of radiation through the optical-fiber-matching-medium-p-i-n-photodiode system and to minimize the back reflection. The use of a matching medium with a refractive index close to that of quartz makes it possible to eliminate focusing elements in the module design and to minimize reflecting surfaces. This article presents the optical system of a photodiode module that makes it possible to eliminate the input of a reflected optical signal into the fiber. (C) 2000 The Optical Society of America.
