摘要
With rapid growth and modernization of the society in last few decades load demand has increased enormously. To cope up with the present power consumption scenario power system network is expanding and becoming more complex and insecure. Sudden change in load disrupts voltage profile of the network making it difficult to maintain distribution system stability keeping all its constraints constant. STATCOM is used for voltage profile optimization by controlling reactive power flow of the network and also helps in minimization of the losses. This paper deals with implementation and performance analysis of Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). The analysis has been done on Standard IEEE 14 bus system by Newton-Raphson method using MIPOWER software.
