Synthesis and spectroscopic studies of the complexes of butamethylene bis(acetamide) with first row transition metal ions

摘要
The synthesis of the complexes of butamethylene-bis(acetamide) (BMBA), with first row transition metal salts, have been reported. All the synthesized complexes were characterized by elemental analysis. The mode of coordination of ligand molecules in these complexes was established by their FTIR spectra. The ESR spectra of all the manganese (II) complexes, consisted of a broad band centered at g(eff) = 2 region, suggesting a very regular cubic symmetry. In the ESR spectra of Fe(BMBA)(4) (ClO4)(2) and Fe(BMBA)(6) (NO3)(3) strong bands near zero-field suggested D values of about 0.10-0.20 cm(-1) and showed considerable deviation from cubic symmetry. On the basis of their stoichiometry, FTIR. spectra, reflectance spectra and ESR spectra, in all these complexes, the ligand molecules were coordinated with metal ions through their amide oxygen atoms, resulting in octahedral structures with [M(BMBA)(3)](2+) chromophores.
