摘要
The recent technological advances in World Wide Web arena with hyper text capable brow sers along with the widely available client-server technology has created a new approach to software development in the telecommunication network management industry. Traditionally, network capacity planning and delivery and network information technology software has been custom developed due to the nature of the business. With ubiquitous web use at work and home, access to application software via this media is a reasonable expection. Software availability for telecommunication network on an intranet basis is cost effective, secure, efficient, and widely accessible. This paper will discuss the migration of an application currently in use for the management of a telecommunication network to the web along with use of various technologies such as Java, CGI with perl interface to Oracle RDBMS, integration of Java and CGI, TCP/IP sockets, and CORBA and their benefits and shortcomings.
