A novel design of unitary space-time constellations combined with turbo coding

摘要
In this paper, we introduce a new design criterion and a novel class of unitary signal constellations for differential space-time modulation for multiple-antenna systems over Rayleigh flat-fading channels with unknown fading coefficients. The results of simulation shows that the new codes have significantly better performance than existing cyclic group code, especially at low and moderate SNR. For the same bit-error rate, our codes outperforms 2.2dB than existing codes (at bit error rate 10(-3)). The design of the new codes is accomplished in a systematic way through the optimization of a figure of merit that closely describes the bit-error rate as a function of the SNR. The new constellations us-e diagonal structure, which allows fast decoding, incorporating with block structure, which admits good constellations of the combination of any large size and any number of transmitter antennas. Further more, we combine the code introduced by us with turbo coding, and our scheme performs approximate 2.3dB better than previous work at bit error rate 10(-5).
