摘要
In this paper, the author evaluates the innovation performance of 29 Chinese manufacturing industries from 2001 to 2008 by using the DEA-based Malmquist index model and the EMS software. Meanwhile, the current status of Chinese manufacturing innovations was discussed in terms of technical efficiencies and changes. The empirical results show that innovation changes of the Chinese manufacturing industries was mainly stemming from the improvement of technical efficiencies instead of technical changes. Meanwhile, the innovation performance of Chinese manufacturing industries is fluctuant without significant change in this period. In addition, manufacturing innovation mainly focus on high-tech industries, labor intensive and resource-intensive industries. The improvement of innovation performance is primarily achieved by enhancing technical efficiency instead of facilitating technical changes.
