摘要
In order to advance the understanding of brain functions, it is critical to manipulate and monitor the neural circuitry in the cellular level. Supporting optogenetics, silicon probes with monolithically integrated waveguides and electrodes were designed and validated with in-vivo recording of photo-induced neural activity. For chronic applications, we developed a technology that utilizes a biodegradable silk coating to support probes with unique geometries and flexibility for reduced tissue reactions. Consistent recording has been observed for 5 weeks in rats.
