THE WORD AS IMAGE

This article intends to highlight the role of images in Plato's writing, who allows himself, besides all the stereotypes involving the principles attributed to him, to criticize representation, image and myths by means of representation in his speech, so as to enable the understanding of a representation theory. Thus, the Republic presents itself as the privileged topos in which we can envisage the profusion of images used by Plato throughout his narrative. That allows us to set forth that his reflection upon the notion of representation is mimetic.
