摘要
A distinctive suite of cidaroid echinoid spines from the middle Miocene Bulu Formation of Java is described as Goniocidaris paraplu sp. nov. The apical primary spines of this species are of no more than moderate length, with a thorny shaft bearing linear tuberculations; the tip is flared and umbrella-like, with radial, unbranched thorns. The secondary spines are more elongate and have incomplete basal discs. No subgeneric assignment is attempted, which will require more complete material. Other Miocene Goniocidaris, mainly from Australia, but also Qatar, show no close similarities with the Javan species.
