Four-Wave Mixing reduction in a long-haul amplified multichannel optical transmission system

摘要
This paper presents a study on Four-Wave Mixing (FWM) phenomenon affecting the performance of Long-Haul Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) optical transmission systems. It is included a brief introduction on the physical nature of FWM. Three strategies to reduce its effects in multi-channel transmission systems are summarized. An application of one of these methods, based on an unequal channel spacings scheme, is included.
