European Capital of Culture Program in Hungary: Focused on Pecs in Terms of Culture-Led Urban Regeneration

摘要
European Capitals of Culture Program started from Athens in 1985 and has been implemented in a total of 54 cities until 2016. This study aims to analyze Hungary-Pecs ECoC Program which was implemented in 2010 as a typical case for East European case. Pecs had undergone social and economic recession for the previous 25 years. Thus, it applied for ECoC Program to vitalize its economy led by culture. The city implemented ECoC Program with the theme of 'A hatartalan varos.' In this study we analyze the meaning of selection, problems and solution of Pecs ECoC 2010 Program, and look into the Pecs's theme for european capitals of culture and assessment on Pecs's european capitals of Culture Program.
