Anthropometric profile, food consumption and quality of life of women in climacteric

Introduction: Climacteric is clarified as a natural and non-pathological transition of women between the productive and nonreproductive phase, with the reduction of the hormone estrogen. Among hormonal changes, non-transitory ones with changes in lipid and bone metabolism, fat distribution and weight gain stand out. Objective: In this context, it is necessary to verify the anthropometric profile and food consumption of women in the climacteric, related to quality of life. Materials and Methods: Descriptive research, with a quantitative, comparative and cross-sectional approach. With 105 women, aged between 30 and 65 years, selected at random, in the cities of Porteirinha and Serranopolis de minas, both municipalities in the North of Minas-MG. Results: It was found a prevalence of 63.7% of overweight related to the consumption of food below the recommended. And mild and moderate classification with greater intensity in the somatovegetative, psychological and urogenital domains in the assessment of quality of life and symptomatology in Climacteric. Conclusion: The anthropometric profile is associated with food consumption and quality of life for women in the climacteric phase.
