Constructed treatment wetland for treatment of variable flow sanitary wastewater

A variable flow wetland was designed to treat wastewater flows from a summer church camp that is also utilized during weekends in the winter. The goal of the project was to design a cost-effective system that required minimum maintenance and achieved zero-discharge. A wetland system with spray irrigation was selected based on its comparatively low capital and O&M cost, ability to handle seasonal flows, and zero-discharge.
