By using newly emerged high precision real-time measurement technologies of spatio-temporal intensity reconstruction and dispersive Fourier transformation (DFT), we have experimentally observed the buildup dynamics of solitons in a bidirectional ultrafast fiber laser. (C) 2019 The Author(s)
