Developing simulation tools for design of low charge vapour compression refrigeration systems

摘要
Due to the environmental concerns of ozone depletion and global warming caused by refrigerants, techniques of reducing the refrigerant charge in vapour compression systems become quite important. The use of smaller diameter tubes is beneficial to reduce refrigerant charge inventory, but the performances of heat exchangers might decrease. In order to improve the efficiency of vapour compression system, simulation tools for heat exchangers and the entire refrigeration systems are needed. The room air conditioner optimized by the simulation tools are validated by experiments. It is shown that the refrigerant charge can be obviously decreased when using smaller diameter tubes.
