School-based Assessment Skills Needed by Teachers in Nigerian Secondary Schools

摘要
The major purpose of the study was to investigate the Business teachers' views on the vital skills that teachers should acquire in order to enhance proper implementation of School-Based Assessment (SBA) in Nigerian junior secondary/upper basic schools. The population for this study comprised the 252 Business studies teachers in the 162 public junior secondary schools located both in the urban and rural areas in Edo state. A random sample of 192 was used. Questionnaire was used for data collection. Mean, standard deviation and t-test measures were used for the analysis. Major findings include amongst others literacy in testing which involves test planning, preparation, administration, scoring, and interpretation. Recommendations that are likely to enable both the pre-service and in-service teachers acquire relevant SBA skills were made.
