摘要
This paper presents an analytical study on energy demand prediction on steel moment resisting frames. For this purpose, three steel moment resisting frames of 3-, 6-, 10-stories are designed. The frames represent low-, medium-, and high-rise structures. Results obtained from non-linear time history analysis are compared with those formulas proposed in the literature. It has been observed that single-degree-of-freedom systems should not be used in predicting the energy demand on multi-degree-of-freedom systems and energy demand predictions should take into account both the structural properties and the characteristics of the ground motions.
