An 8-year old girl was referred with a 2-year history of three violaceous nodular lesions on the right sole. Pathological findings were consistent with a vascular lesion of mixed cavernous foci and spindle cell areas. Immunohistochemistry showed positive expression with CD31, CD34 and factor VIII related antigen in the endothelial cells lining the cavernous spaces while in the spindle cells only focal immunoreactivity with smooth-muscle actin. Spindle-cell hemangioendothelioma is a rare benign vascular tumor and very rarely has been described in children.
