摘要
Information Systems (IS) strategic leadership literature has received significant attention from IS researchers. While the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) position emerged a few decades ago, the current IS literature lacks a comprehensive review of CPO's evolving roles, as well as its integration into the Top Management Team (TMT). With the growing recognition of the importance of CPOs' roles to enhance organizations' privacy practices in different sectors, the need for CPO literature review has increased. This paper discusses the CPO leadership literature in the last two decades (2000-2020) with the objectives of synthesizing recent articles, identifying emerging themes, and presenting avenues for future research. We argue that more empirical research is still needed to benefit both academics and practitioners.
