Seismic calibration of IMS stations using regional discriminants

A new method is proposed for the calculation of seismic stations of the International Monitoring System within the framework of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty; this method is based on natural seismicity data and does not require that special calibrating chemical explosions be detonated. It is shown that identification discriminants of underground nuclear explosions and earthquakes estimated from a representative sample of earthquakes in a region can be adapted to a reference region (in our case, a well-studied region of Eurasia) by choosing attenuation coefficients with regard for the seismic signal propagation conditions in the region studied.
