Exact solution for the ground state of a confined potential

摘要：
An Ansatz for the wave function is used to obtain an exact solution for the ground-state energy for the potential V(r) = ar(2) + br(-4) + cr(-6) in an impenetrable spherical box, provided a certain constraint is satisfied between the potential parameters, a, b, and c. Two types of solution are shown to exist. Results are obtained for several sets of potential parameters.
