Information systems for small businesses: A survey and future research directions

Research on information systems (IS) for small businesses has increased steadily over the past two decades as a growing number of small firms developed information systems for practical and strategic purposes. The mounting pressure from the competitive business environment have encouraged small companies to adopt information technology. Great IS research opportunities are available and academicians can help small businesses succeed by understanding more about the impact IS can make. The purpose of this paper is to survey the research done on the various types of small business information systems. Future research directions will also be defined.
