Electromechanical response of cracks in piezoelectric materials

摘要
An experimental and analytical investigation of the electromechanical response of cracks in piezoelectric ceramics subjected to both mechanical and electrical loading is performed. The cracks are created using the Vickers indentation technique and propagated in unpoled and poled piezoelectric lead zirconium titanate (PZT) under mechanical and/or electrical loads. These results and associated FEA modeling results are described. In addition, time-dependent crack growth in poled and unpoled PZTs subjected to applied electric field of different magnitude and frequency is described.
