摘要
The Kampmann bridge across the river Ruhr in Essen The new bridge Kampmann bridge over the river Ruhr connects the Essen districts of Heisingen and Kupferdreh replacing a steel-concrete composite bridge from the 1950s, which had to be torn down. The new main bridge is designed as a self-anchored cable-stayed bridge with a composite deck. The existing columns and pile trestles of the old bridge served as supports for a shoring for the steel and cable construction, thus avoiding a more complex construction with the free cantilever method. The result is a distinctive and economical structure that fits in elegantly into the surrounding area. This is also due to the development of an innovative tensioning method for the stay cables, allowing for the design of the cable anchorages to be particularly compact. As a result, they fade into the background, providing an unobstructed view on the river Ruhr.
