Design and simulation of thermal barrier coatings for high temperature engine nozzles

摘要
The present research was aimed at the design of thermal barrier coatings and modeling-based prediction of temperature distribution for high-temperature engines nozzles, which need to withstand severe erosion of ultra-high temperature (>2 000degreesC) flame gas from the engine combustor. To this end, two types of thermal barrier coatings were designed and plasma sprayed on the inner surfaces of nozzles. The physical model and boundary conditions were set up to facilitate the simulation of severe service conditions of nozzles. The temperature distributions along the cross-section of the throat of nozzles under several different conditions were simulated using finite element method (FEM) under the support of Marc/Mentat software.
