摘要：
The paper presents a review of the latest development of the modern mortars systems. After a brief classification, the main characteristics of the mortar systems are presented. Then, the paper deals with the most relevant achievements in the area of the mortar fire control systems. Next chapter is dedicated to the two main tendencies in the developments of the vehicle-based mortars: turret and armored personnel carriers installations. Precision-guided mortar ammunitions, extended range mortar cartridges and electro-optic fuzes are then depicted. At the end of the paper some conclusions related to the main trend in mortar systems development are drawn.
