Detwinning in YBa2Cu3O7-δ films on vicinal SrTiO3 (001) due to anisotropic strain at the interface

The detwinning in YBa2Cu3O7-delta films grown on vicinal SrTiO3 (001)-substrates has been studied as a function of the vicinal miscut angle by X-ray diffraction using the two-dimensional q-scan technique. The investigated anisotropic strain at the interface between substrate and film is strongly correlated with the detwinning in the film. This observation is in good agreement with the here presented strain-minimizing model. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
