The surgical treatment of diabetic patients can be challenging. The physiologic and metabolic abnormalities seen in diabetics can adversely affect healing and outcomes, in even the simplest of procedures. This article will examine some of the special considerations in the treatment of diabetic patients undergoing foot and ankle surgeries.
