摘要
Drug discovery and development require co-competencies in a wide range of disciplines. The Pharmaceutical Industry meets this requirement by focused outsourcing. In engineering the methodology of technology management is the basis for outsourcing leading to design excellence. The technology manager is responsible for outsourcing to appropriate technology providers, he will have a general engineering education with a pharmaceutical industry background. He will have specialist experience in a pharmaceutical or a technology area. The key feature is to manage the separate in house and out-house skills and capabilities to the best advantage of the project. A basic framework for specification, design and testing has been established to achieve Best Technology Management. A true partnership between the technology providers and the pharmaceutical industry is the key for success of the project.
