摘要
Virtual network function (vnf) can be useful for any network, specially for 5G, where dynamic creation, modification and deletion of network functions are of special need. OpenStack is a cloud computing platform, where it is possible to create any virtual network function on demand. Once the vnf is created, virtual storage has to be attached for storage of useful data. The data of virtual storage can be retrieved due to failure of virtual storage. To identify the failure of virtual storage, there must be some detection mechanism. Once the failure is detected, the restoration has to be done from the backup of virtual storage. In this work we derive a closed form expression to find the availability of vnf with virtual storage. Further we compare the availability of vnf considering two failure detection and restoration procedures of virtual storage.
