Computational design and aerodynamic optimization of locomotive nose shapes

摘要
A Computational Fluid Dynamics code is used to calculate and optimize the head pressure pulse of locomotives. Comparison of calculated results with results of full-scale and wind tunnel tests demonstrate the validity of the method. The main results of a systematic investigation of the effect of the geometrical parameters of the nose of locomotives on their pressure pulse alongside the track are given.
