Strength properties of fabrics are still the basic characteristics which describe the fabric, As far as we know the kind of raw material and its properties as well as fabric finishing influences the properties of final products. Since a new generation of cellulose fibres has appeared on the market, We would like to know their behaviour in a fabric. The metrological analysis of different kinds of cellulose yarns applied as warp and weft in fabrics of plain weave and of different weft density is presented. Next, the results of breaking force and strain of fabrics in weft and warp directions before and after finishing are presented. On the basis of our research a small influence of fabric finishing in weft direction on strength was observed, whereas a significant influence of applied weft raw material on this: property was noted. The influence of fabric finishing, weft density, and raw material on the elongation at break value was determined.
