Evolution of Korean Direct Investment in CEE since Global Financial Crisis

Korean direct investment has been developing quite intensively since the last decade of the 20th century, and Europe has become one of the major investment areas. In the 1990s, Korean investors also became interested in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Gradually, the value of Korean investments in CEE countries increased. The global financial and economic crisis of 2008 became a significant turning point for investment activity. The author of this study focuses on the analysis of changes that have taken place in the investments of South Korean corporations in Central and Eastern Europe after the crisis. The study aims to indicate the characteristic trends occurring in the inflow of Korean FDI to CEE and their interpretation. To achieve the goal, the method of statistical data analysis, inference method, and analytical-descriptive method were used.
