摘要
If these concepts are not understood correctly or there is a misunderstanding of the concept, there will certainly be difficulties in the learning process and its application. Therefore, researchers try to analyze the misconceptions that occur in students who have studied biotechnology courses on the concept of plant biotechnology. The research approach is qualitative with the research method used is descriptive qualitative. The study population was students of Biology Education STRIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang, Indonesia and the samples used were 29 students who had studied biotechnology. Data collection techniques with multiple-choice diagnostic tests and interviews. Data analysis using Certainty of Response Index (CRI) and descriptive. The results obtained are misconceptions about the overall concept of plant biotechnology by 41%. From these data it is known that quite a lot of biology education students experience misconceptions on the concept. The results of the interview also concluded that students experienced misconceptions not only due to difficult and abstract concepts but also due to information obtained previously from print, online or other social media, teaching staff, and peers. This research is useful for teaching staff to overcome the factors causing misconceptions such as textbooks and also become a reference for further research.
