摘要
Cancer or carcinoma is the uncontrolled growth of cells. There are many types of cancers. Here we are focusing on one of the common cancer of females i.e. cancer of the cervix. Ca Cervix is the second most common type of cancer found in females, breast cancer being the first. There are many numbers of screening tests for Ca cervix and one of these is PAP's smear in which cytology has done. PAP's smear is a good tool for initial screening of Ca cervix but it has limitations as there are always chances of error because of human observations. The objective of this study is to rule out mistakes by using automated techniques to detect the shape, size, and texture of nucleus of the cell. In this research cell segmentation is done by morphological operations and cancer classification is done by using support vector machine (SVM). MATLAB image processing toolbox has used for coding. A dataset of 50 conventional PAP's smear slides has used for proposed method.
