An analysis for China's economic growth and energy consumption based on MS-VAR model

摘要：
This paper examines the relationships between China's economic growth (GDP) and energy consumption (EC) for the period 1978-2010 using MS-VAR (Markov-switching vector autoregressive) models. The result shows that there are dynamic relationships between EC and GDP of China. When the domestic and international environment are stable and suitable for EC, EC is the Granger cause of the GDP; when the international and domestic environment are in an unstable state, GDP is the Granger cause of the EC.
