Polarization features in elastic proton scattering by 9Be nuclei

On the basis of Glauber diffraction theory, the differential cross sections fur elastic and inelastic proton scattering and analyzing powers are calculated at energies of 0.22 and 1.0 GeV. The Be-9 wave functions in the three-body 2 alpha n model are used in this calculation. It is shown that partial filling of the diffraction minimum in the cross section may be due to the inclusion of spin-orbit interaction in elementary amplitudes and to the contribution to the cross section from the inelastic scattering channel that results in a transition to a 1/2(+) level, but which is nor identified experimentally because of low excitation energy.
