Rising of the irreversibility line in re-substituted Hg-1223 high Tc superconductors

Transport and magnetization measurements as a function of Field and temperature, carried out on as-prepared and oxygen annealed Hg-1223 superconductors with 18% Re, indicate that this substitution increases the irreversibility line due to surface barriers, and also enhances bulk pinning at low temperatures (T less than or equal to 40K). Oxygen annealing slightly decreases T-c and has second order effects on the enhancement of the superconductor irreversibility.
