摘要
We have observed the X-ray pulsar X0142+61 using RXTE in March 1996. This pulsar is one of a small group that are either isolated pulsars or members of very compact, low mass binaries. The pulse period is measured as 8.68814(+/-9) sec with an upper limit of (P) over dot/P less than or equal to 8x10(-10) s/s upon the short term spin up/down rate. A compilation of all historical measurements show an overall spin down trend with an episode of more rapid spin up and down between 1984 and 1996. A search for orbital modulations in the pulse arrival times yielded an upper limit less than or equal to 0.28 It.sec. in a(x)sini over the interval 600 to 10(5) sec.
