摘要
In this paper, a proposed virtual reality (VR) based model is suggested to enhance the surgical planning procedures for liver patients. It's centered on the idea of developing a virtual reality environment (VE) based on the Virtual reality Surgical Planning System (VLSPS) where planning gets an easy and intuitive process in the clinical routine. The paper also presents a case study conducted on number of medical centers of liver in EGYPT in order to evaluate the applicability as well as the effectiveness of such techniques. The research has also conducted and analyzed a subjective questionnaire based on evaluating a Virtual Reality Surgical Planning System (VLSPS). Investigation analysis has been conducted to over 20 liver surgeons in the largest six liver centers in Egypt. The results of such investigations have proven quite a promising success to VR in liver surgery addressed by the effectiveness of the approach in training surgeons and shortening the surgical planning time. Enhancements have been agreed upon in a number of axioms including: (i) interactive qualitative analysis of already segmented liver related structures, liver segments, vasculature or respected liver tissue. Such gained enhancements in liver surgical planning procedures result in enabling surgeons doing more accurate quantitative analysis and distance related to liver structures ending in better decision making.
