Rate-adaptive snoop cache allocation to guarantee TCP fairness in wireless networks

摘要
TCP (Transport Control Protocol) continues to be the most important transport layer protocol. The Snoop protocol is known as one of the most effective wireless TCP schemes. It efficiently hides wireless packet losses from the sender Just with the small modification of BS, but it suffers from the performance anomaly problem. In this paper, we investigate the TCP anomaly problem in multi-rate WLAN environments, and then we propose a rate-adaptive Snoop cache allocation scheme to solve the problem. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme solves the anomaly problem and thus provides improved TCP fairness among different data rate flows.
